The energy market liberalization awakened the need for more responsible activities in many trading enterprises, and so to support the sales and balancing groups' with an IT platform. The key factor when creating the eKIP concept was to support unified energy trading both for natural gas and electricity, with respect to best practices and regulations of the industry. The system is designed for energy traders, the balancing groups' responsible members, business customers and partners.
The application supports energy market business processes with the following features:
Contract management: Handles main consumer and trade contract parameters, such as shipping quantities, validities, products, etc. The system drives business processes to fulfill contracted conditions, correlating to which alert levels and events can be defined.
Demand inquiry: Receives energy demand data from balancing group members (consumers, traders, universal suppliers, DSOs) – both via GUI and system integration (SAP). Verifies and validates inquiries, both formally and content-wise, checks limits (capacity, TOP min/max), sends deadline notifications automatically to partners and consumers.
Capacity management
Handles the daily and long term cross-border electricity trades, and in case of natural gas trading the whole capacity portfolio is managed by the platform.
Capacity allocation optimization module is an option to calculate capacities to be contracted with respect to consumers' portfolio characteristics. Diversity risks are also indentified.
Gas related energy products can be defined to create suitable customer portfolio and proper segmentation.
Optimisation: The system provides a purchase proposal for open positions, as well as individual orders on the basis of available wholesale data and price.
Quotes, price formulas: The feature provides an opportunity to store quotes’ prices, as well as cost curves based on price formula. The stored price formulas can be used during commercial accounting.
Trade management: Supports daily, intra-day, and long term energy trading processes. Bid effects are displayed automatically.
Schedule management: The electricity business component supports scheduling tasks to the group responsible for balancing. The application generates scheduling to be sent to the TSO’s IT platform partner-by-partner, or regarding the whole balancing group.
Nomination: The natural gas business component aggregates consumer and trade partner demands to system operator and trade points. The module also supports supply-consumption balancing. Both DSO and TSO level nomination data are generated – enabling diversion.
Allocation/accounting: The allocation module provides consumption data receipt via various interfaces – with automatic consumption quantity distribution to trade points. Allocated quantities are split to contracts and prepared for accounting. In the natural gas module, splitting can be done by either nomination or by demand as needed. At the end of the process the system generates reports for the involved customer groups. They can be automatically informed via E-mail.
